Keiki’s Review

A gardener’s delight, A Garden of Love by Thomas Clarke, caretaker of the Gethsemane Prayer Garden in Syracuse, NY, takes a select group of flowers and describes God’s love, mercy, hope, redemption, and so much more.

As I read through this book, I could hear the heart of the author. Each flower is described and the wonder of creation is related.  Not a gardener myself, I enjoyed reading how the author related the nuances of each flower to the attributes of God, creation, and the disciplines of Christianity.

This is a book for the quiet times, for times of reflection. The vivid photos added greatly to the book. They helped me identify the flowers by name. These reflections remain with me.

  • When I see a Bellflower now, I may think of the how continuous and hopeful love should be.
  • When I see a bright Chrysanthemum now, I may think of the reconciliation of Billy and Marge.
  • When I see a Coneflower now, I will be reminded of what heaven may be like as I look around at the saints.

I recommend it as a great selection for a gardener or for personal use.
