My Lemony Snicket Weekend

My Lemony Snicket Weekend

It’s the little things we should be thankful for. Miracles happen everyday and most of them go unnoticed. Let me tell you about one such miracle. It happened last weekend. Looking back on it now, I’ve affectionately dubbed it, my Lemony Snicket weekend.

As you all know, The Vessel Project went down on Friday afternoon. A victim of user error (mine), the poor thing just refused to budge for me. It did not like the new user uploaded content. That is the preface of the miracle.

Needless to say, it was a crushing blow to me. While pondering my misfortune, it became clear to me that I needed to simplify the site and refocus all of the content back onto Christian books. Funny, isn’t it? My tag line is “For those who love Christian books” and yet I loaded The Vessel Project with many things unrelated to Christian books.

Simplifying your life is a beautiful thing. Sometimes God has to take stuff away from you before He can give you what you need.

I began building the new site on Saturday morning. A bad storm was brewing in our area with very heavy rain, the kind that takes your satellite out and makes you want to cover your head until it’s all over. By lunchtime, our internet service went down. Not down for a short period till the storm blew over, but completely and utterly down leaving me with now way to build the new website.

Fortunately, my son had encouraged us to get the ‘hot spot’ feature on our cell phones saying “You never know when you might need it, mama.”  It was a good thing we took his advice because our internet service did not come back up until Monday afternoon. By that time, I had already built the new site using my handy, dandy ‘hot spot’ service on my cell phone.

So, let me encourage you to know this. Sometimes, God will allow a series of unfortunate events to happen just to simplify your life. As I look back on the last few days, I know this. It was God that took the site down and it was God that provided me the resources to build it up once more.

God is like that you know. Always amazing, always adventurous and always keeping me on my toes.

  1. Are you still offering books for the nooks? I noticed lately, there haven’t been any links. I have so enjoyed the Christian books that you have made available through this website. Thank you for what you have done in the past for nook books. It’s so nice to be able to read a book that has good content and that glorifies our Lord.
