I just recently received a copy of Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy’s Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back by Todd Burpo as a gift. Since I’ve already read it and since I was again feeling a little giveaway-ish, I offered it on The Vessel Project Fan Page (aka Christian Books) as a one day giveaway.
Congratulations to Joanne Hios, winner of Heaven is for Real. Of the 30 comments left, Joanne’s comment was chosen as the winner using a random number generator.
I like these short one day book giveaways. They aren’t announced via a blog post so the only way you can enter is to see a posting on the fan page. I hope to do more of these one day giveaways so you might want to ‘like’ the page.
If you haven’t read Todd Burpo’s book, perhaps you should pick it up. It’s an enormously popular book. It focuses on the connection between a small child and his experiences with Jesus and heaven as told to his dad. God is close to children. He protects their innocence and runs wildly through their imagination. A great read if you haven’t read it already.

Colton, not yet four years old, told his parents he left his body during the surgery-and authenticated that claim by describing exactly what his parents were doing in another part of the hospital while he was being operated on. He talked of visiting heaven and relayed stories told to him by people he met there whom he had never met in life, sharing events that happened even before he was born. He also astonished his parents with descriptions and obscure details about heaven that matched the Bible exactly, though he had not yet learned to read.
With disarming innocence and the plainspoken boldness of a child, Colton tells of meeting long-departed family members. He describes Jesus, the angels, how “really, really big” God is, and how much God loves us. Retold by his father, but using Colton’s uniquely simple words, Heaven Is for Real offers a glimpse of the world that awaits us, where as Colton says, “Nobody is old and nobody wears glasses.”
Heaven Is for Real will forever change the way you think of eternity, offering the chance to see, and believe, like a child.
Thanks to all who entered the giveaway.
